Naila joined Thomas More Chambers in January 2024 and maintains a busy mixed common law practice.


Approachable and personable, Naila is known for her genuine care and empathy. She takes the time to fully understand each client’s unique circumstances and concerns and builds trust and confidence throughout the process.


Crime


Naila prosecutes and defends in the Magistrates, Youth and Crown Courts.


Naila is a Level 2 CPS Prosecutor and is regularly instructed to prosecute in a broad range of criminal matters from, committal for sentence, first appearance to trials and sentence hearings.


Naila accepts instructions to defend in the Crown, Magistrates and Youth Courts.


Criminal Appeals


Naila accepts instructions to advise on the merits of appeal, draft grounds of appeal, and represent appellants at hearings.


Sports and Regulatory Law


Naila has extensive experience in sports and regulatory law from her previous roles and welcomes instructions in these areas.


Naila is keen to build up her Regulatory experience and welcomes instructions in fitness to practise proceedings. Her experiences include (in addition to her pre-qualification – see below) post-pupillage work with the General Dental Council’s In House Legal Presentation Team, during which she managed a large number of cases.


Family


Naila regularly represents both applicants and respondents in private law children proceedings. She is also instructed in applications for non-molestation and occupation orders, acting for both complainants and those accused of domestic abuse.


Naila has experience representing parents and local authorities in public law proceedings, including applications for care, placement, and supervision orders.


Family (Finance)


Naila has represented clients at various stages of financial remedy proceedings.


Civil Law


Naila is regularly instructed in a range of small claims matters.


Other Experience


Naila is able to bring a wide range of knowledge into her practice from her previous experience.


Naila assisted Clare Wade KC in relation to the Domestic Homicide Sentencing Review (published in 2023 and available online), and her contribution was acknowledged in the published report.


Her previous experience includes working with IKWRO, a women’s rights organisation, where she provided advice and support to victims of so-called ‘honour’-based abuse, forced marriage, and domestic violence.


Naila also worked as Safeguarding Case Officer at The Football Association, leading safeguarding investigations concerning individuals involved in, or seeking involvement in football.


She previously practised as a County Court Advocate before joining the General Dental Council, where she worked initially as a Registration Caseworker and subsequently as a Paralegal within the in-house Legal Presentation team.


Naila sits as an independent Chair on The Football Association Judicial Panel, adjudicating on cases of misconduct and aggravated misconduct, including discrimination charges.


In April 2024, she was appointed to the Sports Resolutions Safeguarding Panel.


Naila is passionate about promoting the rights of the underprivileged and disadvantaged and remains committed to voluntary and community work. She regularly contributes to community-based organisations and is was appointed as a Governor of a primary school.
