Professional Negligence

Chambers has built up considerable expertise in the field of professional negligence. Members have particular experience of construction related claims and claims against surveyors and solicitors.

They have acted for building developers and/or against builders in claims involving allegations of negligent construction work. Members of Chambers are well versed in the technical issues which arise in construction and building disputes.

Chambers has particular expertise in dealing with claims for and against surveyors, arising from alleged failures to supervise or inspect building works and/or failing to comply with the terms of their appointment. Chambers has recently been instructed in a series of cases against building surveyors involving negligent mortgage valuations, notably Scullion v Bank of Scotland. [2011] 1 WLR 3212, CA [2011] PNLR 68 (Ch). Current cases include a claim for failing to spot signs of subsidence in a multi-million pound London property.

Chambers is also currently involved in a number of claims for and against solicitors, including claims alleging the negligent conduct of conveyancing transactions and a multi-million pound group claim arising from an international property investment scheme.
