Thomas More Chambers is committed to all forms of Alternative Dispute Resolution across the full spectrum of disputes, and whoever they may involve. We recognise that, in many cases, the use of ADR provides a cost effective and time sensitive resolution.

The options available will depend on the nature of the dispute, especially in Family Law, but an overview is provided below:

Family Law:

1. Family Mediation - members of Chambers are trained Resolution mediators with experience of mediating all types of disputes covering children, finances and the divorce itself. This can be provided both in English and Spanish.
2. Family Arbitration - members of chambers are Members of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators permitted to arbitrate all Children Act and TOLATA claims.
3. Private FDR – a Financial Dispute Resolution meeting can be held at a time and venue of your choice providing the parties with the opportunity to negotiate openly and freely.
4. Collaborative law – for all types of family disputes covering children, finances and the divorce itself.

Civil and Commercial Disputes:

1. Mediation - Chambers has a number of qualified Civil and Commercial Mediators, some of them full-time mediators, who are registered with the Civil Mediation Council (CMC) in England and Wales. Civil and commercial mediation is increasingly used by parties in the UK and internationally to find constructive and creative solutions, suitable to all parties and often much quicker and more cost-effective than traditional ways to resolve disputes. Some of our mediators offer to mediate in French and are qualified to mediate within the French judiciary system and in particular the French Courts of Appeal. Spanish and Mandarin skills are also available.
2. Arbitration - Chambers has a team of Arbitrators in civil disputes who are Members of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators permitted to arbitrate civil claims. Chambers also has a number of barristers experienced in representing parties in arbitrations.
