Puneet Rai is an experienced trial advocate who has a general common law practice. She regularly appears within her specialist areas of practice at all levels.




Puneet has a busy and wide-ranging civil practice involving litigation at all levels. She has significant trial experience.

Puneet advises and appears in cases involving general contractual disputes, injunctions, partnerships, misrepresentation and fraud claims, civil restraint orders, breaches of directors' duties and minority shareholder disputes.




Puneet advises on a wide range of aspects of personal injury law including occupiers’ liability, tripping and slipping, road traffic accidents, Highways Act claims, accidents at work and quantum.




Puneet is an experienced Family Barrister who frequently appears in the County Courts and High Court in cases relating to Private Law Children Act and Financial Remedy matters.


Financial Remedy

Puneet regularly conducts financial remedy cases both in the County Court and High Court, including applications under the Trusts of Land and Appointment of Trustees Act 1996; and the Inheritance (Provision for Family and Dependants) Act 1975, as well as applications for financial provision following an overseas divorce under the Matrimonial and Family Proceedings Act 1984 and Schedule 1 of the Children Act 1989.


Private Law Children

In relation to children, Puneet is frequently instructed in cases involving intractable contact disputes/parental alienation; applications for removal from the jurisdiction of England and Wales; and often acts in respect of those proceedings where there is a background of allegations of domestic violence or harassment.




General Crime

Puneet regularly defends in trials involving varied offences, including fraud, drugs, sex, and matters involving serious violence. As well as her considerable experience conducting trials as sole counsel, she also acts as junior counsel in cases of serious and complex crime: recent cases include a VHCC MTIC fraud; a multi-handed multi-million pound diversion fraud; and a multi-handed conspiracy to import class A drugs. She has experience of Courts Martial.


Regulatory Work

Puneet also regularly accepts instructions in Regulatory work: she has recently acted in a Football Association disciplinary hearing, and has particularly extensive experience of licensing matters.
