Ben Beaumont FRICS FCIArb FDBF, is a barrister and chartered surveyor.

He  was called to the Bar by the Inner Temple. 

He is an external member of the Northern Ireland Bar Library.

He has been a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators since 1982.


He has been sitting as an arbitrator since 1985, both as sole arbitrator and as a member of the three-man tribunal. The value of the disputes has ranged from the miniscule to a figure in excess of US$50 million. He has also been appointed as an adjudicator and to act in dispute adjudication and determination board panels.


He is a TECBAR arbitrator, adjudicator and dispute board member. He has been appointed mediator on various occasions. He accepted an invitation to join the FIDIC President's list of adjudicator's in 2012.


He is currently a member of various Arbitration Tribunals in the Middle East and Far East and on Dispute Boards in the Far East.


He is Chairman of the Arbitration Club and the Immediate Past Chairman of  the Adjudication Society and Chair of the Management Committee of the Dispute Board Federation.

Dispute Resolution Experience:

As Arbitrator, more than 198 disputes, of which 118 were construction references under institutional and ad hoc procedures. More than 120 were international.

Main contract, sub-contract and professional services disputes up to US$880 Million.

Served as party appointed member, sole arbitrator and chairman, under UNCITRAL, CIETAC and ad hoc procedures.

Drafted Rules for Administration of Secular affairs of Ismaili Group of HH the Aga Khan. Considerable experience in drafting arbitration clauses and arbitration agreements.


As Adjudicator in many disputes of which 5 were international, as member of a Dispute Adjudication Board, and the balance under the Housing Grants Construction and Regeneration Act 1996. Drafted contractual provisions and bespoke procedures for dispute boards.


As Mediator involved in international engineering disputes of which all were settled as a result of mediation.


As Party Representative acting as legal counsel in negotiating ad hoc construction joint venture agreements, and amending FIDIC site of contracts and acting as counsel in arbitration hearings on a variety of matters. Acting as negotiator in a variety of construction related disputes and differences.
