PRACTICE

Abdul is an experienced advocate with a mixed criminal and civil practice. He is known for his careful preparation and presentation of cases and enjoys a well-deserved reputation as an outstanding trial advocate.
Crime
Abdul’s practice encompasses all aspects of criminal law. Over the years, he has represented clients charged with everything from thefts and assaults to serious violence, drugs, firearms, sexual offences, and multi-million pound frauds.
He is highly regarded for his expertise in fraud cases. He has appeared in a number of high-profile benefit fraud cases and is particularly sought-after for his knowledge in this area. In addition, Abdul has an in-depth understanding of bribery and corruption, and confiscation.
Abdul has appeared at every level from the magistrates’ courts to the House of Lords. His day-to-day practice is predominantly Crown Court based.
During 2006-07, Abdul was a tutor in criminal law in the Faculty of Laws at University College London (UCL). He is currently in the final stages of a PhD in corruption at UCL.
Civil
Abdul has always enjoyed a busy general civil practice. He has considerable experience of advisory work, drafting, and trial advocacy.
He is regularly instructed in contractual disputes ranging from small claims to complex multi-track trials involving expert evidence. Abdul is a highly able advocate who is comfortable in dealing with large amounts of complex information. As a result, he is often instructed by the motoring industry in cases of a technical nature.
In addition, Abdul is registered as a lawyer under the FA Football Agents’ Regulations. He is able to advise professional football players on all aspects of their contracts with their clubs.
Property
Abdul has considerable experience of property law. He is regularly instructed by landlords, tenants, and mortgagees. He has extensive experience of advising, drafting, and representing clients in court.
Abdul’s attention to detail has resulted in a number of cases against his clients being struck-out. He has successfully represented clients at both trial and on appeal (including the Court of Appeal), and has obtained significant damages in some cases.
Employment
Abdul’s employment practice includes advisory work, drafting, and representation. He has been instructed in everything from unfair dismissal and discrimination to complex equal pay cases. He also has experience of successfully negotiating settlements including a six-figure settlement for a client who was employed by one of the largest mobile phone operators in the UK.
