Jeremy Baker QC is a leading specialist in criminal law, with extensive experience in both prosecuting and defending serious and sensitive cases. His practice covers Police Disciplinary and Coronial Inquest matters, together with medical malpractice and Health & Safety Executive work. Recent experience has also involved him in a Court Martial case involving the torture and death of Iraqi civilians.

He also practises from Paradise Chambers in Sheffield.

Regina v Rahimi (Manchester) 2007 Defence of murder by male Afghanistani Asylum Seeker of fellow Afghanistani. Involving issues of intent and self defence.  

Regina v Stacey (Bulford Court Martial Centre) 2006 Defence of serving soldier arising out of the death in custody of Bata Mousa and assaults upon other detainees at the QLR barracks in Basra, Iraq.  

Regina v Pashley (Sheffield) 2006 Defence of murder by male of his wife in the presence of his 7 year old son. Involving issues of “fitness to plead” and diminished responsibility.  

Regina v Joyce (Manchester) 2006 Defence of murder by male who, with others, had tortured and killed an elderly male relative over a prolonged period of time. Involving issues of intent, joint enterprise and a ‘cut throat’ defence.  

Regina v A (Sheffield) 2006 Defence of S.18 wounding by 12 years old Somalian refugee upon a fellow school pupil, involving the use of a razor to slash the face of female who had subjected her to previous racial violence and bulling.  

Regina v Scott (Hull) 2006 Defence of manslaughter and arson by young male who had caused the death of his sister in a series of house fires.  

Regina v Burton (Sheffield) 2006 Defence of murder by elderly male of his wife who was suffering from Alzheimer’s Disease, involving issues of intent and self-defence.  

Tomlinson deceased (Southport Coroner’s Court) 2006 Representation of interested party (husband of deceased) at an inquest into the death of a female police officer, arising out of sex discrimination and bullying within the Police Firearms Department.  

Regina v Cutts  (Sheffield) 2006 Defence of attempted murder by male, involving the use of a sawn-off shotgun to shoot another male outside public house.  

Alder v Barr & Others (London) 2005 Acting for police officers involved in defending a claim for race discrimination, assault and misconduct in public office.  

Humphrey, David (Swansea Coroner’s Court) 2005 Representation of interested party (Furnace Foreman) at an inquest into the deaths of steel furnacemen arising out of an explosion of the blast furnace at the Port Talbot Steelworks.  

Regina v Post (Sheffield) 2005 Defence of murder by son of transsexual father, involving issues of intent, self-defence and provocation.  

Regina v Craddock (Manchester) 2005 Defence of murder by male, involving attack upon 78 year old victim in his own home, involving issues of intent, self-defence and provocation.  

Regina v Peeters (Sheffield) : 2005 Defence of murder by 15 year old girl, involving a prolonged group attack upon a fellow camper with the use of scythes.
